Hey! So, How does it all work, anyway?

If you're here, which you are - Let me just say, you're in the right place.
To be honest with you, we don't really have any specific type of person or business we are seeking to fill up pages of our first issue. We want to get to know the people we share this city with; our community, our neighbors, our friends, our families, our peers, our coworkers... the list goes on.
Have you ever found yourself browsing through a corporate store such as Walmart, comparing products, asking yourself questions such as,
"Where does this product come from?" "Who made this product?"
"What is in this product?"
"How does this product compare with its competitor?"
"Is this product locally made? Is it environmentally friendly? Is it tested on animals? Is it safe for me and my family?"
The truth is, shopping in big stores can be scary for a lot of us - and some of us aren't phased at all (when we should be). We are bombarded with competing products, things we don't necessarily need, and of course, questions about products, ethics, safety, etc. We want to make things easier for you.
Not only that - ultimately, we want to introduce you to your neighbors. We want to broaden your horizon. We aim to support and advertise for local business owners and artists of the like, so that you have more options for all of your shopping and specific service needs.
This is your home. This is your community. You choose to spend your time and your life here - why not invest? Why not support? Why not take a few steps closer to supporting local, supporting your community, your home town - becoming more aware of what is available to you by people you know and can trust.
We aim to have our first printed issue released this June (one month away!!). We are accepting applications until May 10th, 2017. This will allow us to spend the rest of the month interviewing and documenting those who have applied, in order to give them a full spread focusing solely on their experience, their passions and inspirations, and what they contribute to the community. So far, we aim to have a quarterly release of The Local, but aspire to bump this up to a monthly release for North Bay.
If you're thinking of applying but feel as though you don't have 'what it takes' - I personally guarantee and promise that you do. Don't be shy. We, too, are in our beginning stages. We, too, are taking baby steps and learning to grow. So, why not jump on board and grow with us? Lets make it a journey, and lets walk it together.
